Castlemaine 20 Bed Modular Accommodation, this $8m project involved the design of 20 new high-security cells, built as modular container type accommodation units. The units were positioned in a two-storey arrangement with connection walkways and associated officer’s post.

Waterman’s infrastructure specialists carried out a detailed review of the existing site infrastructure services required to support the new accommodation units, and proposed targeted upgrades.

Dame Phyllis Frost Centre

88-Bed Expansion Project

Waterman undertook an infrastructure feasibility study and concept design for the inclusion of a new 88-bed accommodation wing on the existing DPFC site. The study also included the extensive modification and expansion to the Gatehouse and a study to upgrade the site LPG gas reticulation system to natural gas.

Container Accommodation

The project involved the design and documentation of 20 new container type cell units for the low security accommodation on the existing DPFC site. The works involved full design of all infrastructure systems required to support the new units.

Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Centre

The new Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Centre at Sunshine Hospital opened in May 2019. The facility provides inpatient and outpatient services specifically focused on women and children.

The new centre houses 237 IPU beds, 20 maternity delivery rooms, 39 special care nursery cots, 4 operating theatres, CSSD, emergency entry and all associated support areas.

Our team undertook the full engineering services design documentation and construction phase services for the project, including the mechanical, Electrical, Fire, Hydraulic, Lifts and ESD disciplines.

The engineering services included new substations, main switchboards, chillers, boilers, and medical gas plant. The systems have been designed on ESD principles and are arranged to provide future flexibility, redundancy, adaptability and whole of life value.

Whitewater Centre

In 1999, the Mountbrook Group acquired the former Irish Ropes site in conjunction with joint venture partner Ballymore Properties.
Seven years later, the Whitewater Shopping Centre opened its doors and has been trading successfully ever since. Situated in the heart of Newbridge Town, Whitewater is the country’s largest retail complex outside the Dublin.

The Centre measures 86,500 sqm with 70 retailers in a two-level mall, supporting facilities include a food court with 550 seats, a six-screen cinema, 50 residential units and parking for 1,700 cars in both basement and a multi-storey carpark.

We acted as transportation adviser to the development, which included the design of the Newbridge Inner Relief Road improvement Scheme for Kildare County Council.
