Based in a bustling city centre location just off Circular Quay, our welcoming Sydney team is working on a range of prestigious and innovative projects throughout Australia. This full-time role offers you the chance to deliver fire protection designs and documentation for schemes across all sectors.
You’ll use your expertise to ensure fire protection designs are carried out efficiently and to the highest standards. Harnessing your industry knowledge and experience, you’ll help upskill your colleagues by assisting with the mentoring, training and development of new and existing team members.
With our innovative and collaborative culture, you’ll work across boundaries and have a great platform to present your ideas. You’ll join experts across the business to progress major schemes, collaborating with our multidisciplinary experts to develop holistic solutions.
About the role:
This is a truly dynamic role, and you’ll be happy working autonomously to support a variety of schemes across all sectors. You’ll provide high level fire protection expertise resulting from both academic qualifications and industry experience.
You’ll be relationship-focused and will have the presentation and communications skills to represent Waterman to clients and the wider industry.
You’ll assist with maintaining Technical and Quality Assurance reviews and standards within the fire protection discipline and you’ll champion design excellence in this area.
You’ll take a hands-on approach to the computational and documentation aspects of your discipline across the full range of wet and dry fire services including:
- Fire sprinkler systems of all types and hazard classifications
- Fire hydrant and hose reel systems
- Combined Fire Hydrant and sprinkler systems
- Fire services infrastructure (tanks, pumps etc)
- Fire detection and alarm systems
- Occupant Warning and Evacuation systems
You’ll lead the production aspects of the fire protection services discipline and deliver documentation, technical specifications, schedules and technical reports of the highest standards.
You’ll actively contribute to the training, mentoring and technical development of other team members whilst continuing to develop your own technical knowledge and application of Australian Standards, the National Construction Code and other relevant guidelines. You’ll also maintain your status as an Accredited Fire Protection Engineer (FPAS) in the State of New South Wales and other states as required.
You’ll have the opportunity to assist with the delivery of an exciting range of national and international projects as a sub-consultant to other Waterman Group offices.
