Alan graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street, in 2012 with an honours degree in Building Services Engineering. A Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland, Alan began his career in 2002 when he completed a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering at Tallaght Institute of Technology.

He then completed an apprenticeship in plumbing with a leading mechanical and building services contractor and subsequently was responsible for installation and maintenance of mechanical services for numerous hospital, education, retail and commercial building projects. This hands-on experience ensures Alan takes a very practical approach to his role as a lead building services designer, and his projects benefit from his detailed understanding of the importance of addressing buildability and ease of maintenance at the design stage.

Alan joined the Waterman Moylan team in 2015 as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and was promoted to Associate in 2019. His design expertise encompasses residential development, education, commercial, health sector and public building works, and he has contributed to a wide range of new build, fit-out and refurbishment schemes throughout Ireland. He is an SEAI registered domestic BER assessor.

Alan’s contracting experience has given him a strong interest in advancing safety on construction sites which has seen him qualify to act as a Project Supervisor – Design Process and he regularly advises clients on health and safety matters relating to building development and operation.
