Waterford City Square

The City Square Shopping Centre is located in the centre of Waterford City, within the historic medieval quarter. The development included a new a two-storey extension, and significant reconfiguration and structural amendments to the existing centre.

Key design drivers of the development were the requirement to keep existing tenancies in place during the demolition and construction works, and also to mitigate the impact of the new development on the archaeologically sensitive zone.

We provided all civil and structural engineering services for the development from planning to construction.

The new retail unit comprised a steel frame construction with reinforced concrete composite decking for an efficient design for the superstructure, but also to minimise the required foundation works into the archaeological strata deemed important by National Monuments for preservation insitu.
