This project is an integral component of the University of Technology (UTS) city campus masterplan. The UTS Broadway Building is approximately 42,000 sqm over 15 levels and will house the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.
The building was designed to achieve a ‘five-Star’ Green Star rating, and the energy saving strategy delivers a 30–45% energy saving over benchmark tertiary educational buildings with similar functional spaces.
The design includes under floor air distribution systems and low energy lighting. Externally, the facade is fully wrapped in a laser cut, low reflectance, externally mounted aluminium ‘binary code’ screen. This features perforations representing the pattern of ‘0s’ and ‘1s’ that underpin computing language, reflecting the IT-focused nature of the building.
Waterman undertook full design, documentation and construction phase services for the scheme, seeing our teams deliver Mechanical, Electrical, Fire, Hydraulic, Vertical Transport and ESD support.
