Officially opened in 2024 by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Premier Jacinta Allan, the Paula Fox Melanoma Cancer Centre signals a major advancement in melanoma treatment, research and care in Victoria.

Designed by Lyons Architecture, the six-storey, purpose-built centre features a distinctive façade inspired by the form and function of a skin graft, an intentional architectural reference to skin cancer treatment. The building accommodates a comprehensive range of clinical, research and support functions, including day oncology services, specialist consulting suites, research laboratories, procedural and imaging spaces, a clinical trials centre, staff offices and multidisciplinary collaboration areas. The facility also incorporates a dedicated wellness centre and landscaped wellness garden, along with two basement levels providing car parking.

The centre is widely recognised by leading industry bodies, receiving multiple national and international awards for architectural and construction excellence.

Delivered for the client Alfred Health, Waterman’s building team provided full design, documentation and construction phase services for this remarkable scheme.
