20 Great Eastern Street is Colt Technology’s 5,700 sqm headquarters, located in London’s creative hub, Shoreditch.
Our building services team worked alongside Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor MACE, Perkins+Will and Paragon Construction, providing full MEP design services and developing a completely new servicing strategy for the building.
As part of the refurbishment works, the cladding was remodelled with a new high-performance glazing which has significantly reduced energy use, whilst a new core and lift shaft were built at the west end of the building to improve the floor plate efficiency and optimise the net lettable area.
Our team’s design strategy adopted a modern ‘exposed services’ approach with fan coil units and new energy efficient LED lighting, which are hung from the existing soffits in conjunction with acoustic rafts to control reverberation. The refurbishment has reduced CO2 emissions by 70% compared to the original building performance, improving the EPC rating from D to B.
