Located on the A5 in west Leicestershire, HORIBA MIRA’s Technology Park incorporates advanced motor industry research and development facilities together with a high-speed proving ground. Since its inception 70 years ago, MIRA has grown into a truly international organisation with facilities located around the world. Their work spans the automotive, aerospace, rail and defence industries and includes the development of ground-breaking low carbon and autonomous vehicle technologies.
The MIRA Technology Park is ideally situated close to the Midlands motor industry and highway network, and this world class development has become the location of choice for global businesses operating in the transport R&D sector. The 87.5 hectare, 1.5 million sq ft development is a platform for the rapid delivery of bespoke R&D centres ranging from start-up facilities right up to major European R&D operations.
Our team were appointed through the MIRA Technology Park consultancy framework and delivered structural and civil engineering services for the major offsite highways enabling works and on-site vehicle testing facility improvements. Our team provided client-side services, drainage design, and highway structure Review of Design Principles (RDP) for the upgrade and dualling of the A5, including a new gyratory and new access road.
Elsewhere, our structures specialists supported the design of the Aston Martin research plant and new technical buildings within the proving ground.
