Origin Energy in Barangaroo

Published 29th November 2024

Situated in Barangaroo, a key area in Sydney’s central business district, this fit-out incorporated three levels of Tower One and provided a modern, flexible workplace for the Origin Energy head office in New South Wales.

The 7,500 sqm of office space are connected by a three floor, inter-tenancy stair which required extensive modification to the building fire compartmentation and fire engineering strategy. The fit-out incorporated large function areas for up to 150 people, a full commercial kitchen, a 24/7 trading area and high specification audio visual equipment throughout.

Due to Origin Energy’s high flexibility requirements, all meeting rooms within the tenancy were required to be used at any time of the day. To enable this continual accessibility, a dynamic chilled water system, which could share cooling across any area of the offices, was added following extensive modelling to demonstrate expected usage demand. This solution significantly reduced Origin’s overall construction cost by removing the need to purchase additional cooling plant.

Working closely with Hassell architects, we provided building services design, documentation and construction stage services for this commercial project including mechanical and electrical design, fire engineering and hydraulic design.
