The University of New South Wales’s (UNSW) Mechanical Manufacturing & Engineering Precinct is a hub for engineering research and education on their Kensington Campus in Sydney. The redevelopment represents a major investment in Australia’s engineering future, providing a point of focus for UNSW’s defined research strength, in next generation materials and technologies.

The project comprised the refurbishment of existing buildings, alongside the development of a new building for contemporary teaching, postgraduate workspaces, computer laboratories, and academic offices, across the 38-ha campus. The buildings embody the consistent architectural language of 1960s, and it is the first time they have been the subject of a major capital renewal. The alterations and additions involved refurbishment, and fitout works to the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Building, Willis Annex and Willis Lane.

Our specialists worked across the scheme undertaking a full suite of design, documentation, construction, and hydraulic engineering services, seeing us deliver a full hydraulics and fire services report establishing hydraulic and fire system design criteria.
