Richard Whitehead
Managing Director,

Richard is a Chartered Civil Engineer with extensive experience of commercial, residential and retail sector building construction. He has been with Waterman for over 25 years.Richard became Managing Director of Waterman Structures in 2020.

He brings a breadth of experience in a variety of residential, retail and commercial schemes, including new – build, refurbishment and fit – out. He has a strong practical and technical background and delivers sustainable structural solutions with a particular emphasis on low carbon design.

Richard is experienced in co – ordinating and understanding the needs of multidisciplinary teams and has held a project lead role for a number of major schemes including Jersey International Finance Centre, 8 Moorgate, The Marq and The Avenue.

He is passionate about mentoring young professionals in their careers and has taken a lead role in Waterman’s scholarship and intern programme.

Andrew Harrison

Andrew joined Waterman Partnership in 1998 after graduation from the University of Brighton, and his extensive experience spans a large number of residential, commercial and retail scheme.

His broad portfolio of new build and refurbishment projects includes many redevelopment schemes in built up areas where he successfully overcame challenging site constraints associated with existing structures and adjoining buildings.

Andrew was promoted to Associate Director in 2007, Regional Director in 2010 and Director in 2018. He is responsible for the co – ordination and management of the structural design process on multiple large – scale projects.

Joe Smith
Director, Structures

Joe is a Chartered Structural Engineer with extensive expertise in delivering structural engineering designs for numerous complex mixed-use, retail, commercial and residential developments throughout the UK and internationally.

He has a passion for providing high quality and economical design solutions. Joe’s approach to design sees him provide value engineering early in the design development process, whilst continuously engaging with the client, design team members and contractors to ensure clear and concise communication is achieved.

He is the author of ‘The Blueprint for Project Speed’ which showcases the lessons learnt by the design team during the Jersey General Hospital Nightingale Wing project which was delivered in just four weeks, and is a practical guide to speeding up design and construction.

Alun Rae

Alun has over 20 years’ experience in engineering consultancy and has a strong track record in successful project delivery. A Chartered Engineer and an approved SER Certifier.

Alun has played a key role in delivering high value projects, both new build and refurbishment, across a wide variety of sectors. His leadership skills bring teams together to ensure a collective and collaborative approach is taken to addressing a project’s early engineering challenges. Alun brings a hands – on approach throughout the lifecycle of a project to deliver cost certainty, value and the highest quality engineering solutions. He oversees the technical delivery of projects and ensures that resources are deployed effectively to meet all deliverables and project milestones.

He has a wealth of technical expertise across a breadth of construction solutions and materials. His specialist expertise includes due diligence, structural design, feasibility, Value Engineering, inspections and assessments.

A Chartered Engineer with 30 years’ experience. With a passion for zero carbon strategies, he maintains a ‘hands on’ role in the business with specialisms in the commercial fit – out, refurbishment and new build sectors, as well as large – scale residential and mixed – use schemes.

His considerable experience allows him to simplify complex designs, reducing the time spent on reaching practical solutions. Encouraging his team to innovate, Mark actively engages in problem solving to create best – value design solutions. He actively promotes sustainable solutions as part of a holistic approach to building design, driving sustainability and reduction of whole –
life carbon.

During his career, he has built – up an extensive portfolio, including recent projects such as 100 Fetter Lane, Rolls – Royce London HQ, Charlotte Tilbury’s new London HQ, Angel Court, Fen Court, The Avenue, Jersey International Finance Centre, Kings Cross T1 and P1, The Clarges Estate and 6 Bevis Marks.

Neil is a Chartered Environmentalist and registered Principal Environmental Auditor with IEMA. He is currently a Board Director of the Association of Consulting Engineers (ACE), Chair of ACE’s Pipeline and Procurement Group and an active member of the Net Zero advisory Group.

Neil graduated from the Kings College London in 1993 with a BSc(Eng) in Engineering and Management, and went on to gain an MSc Distinction in Marine Resource Development and Protection from Heriott Watt University. In 1995 Neil joined Environmental Auditors Limited (EAL), specialising in corporate due diligence and contaminated land, and in 1998 was appointed to the Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Waterman, Neil was Head of Environmental Due Diligence at Arcadis Geraghty & Miller, and in 2001 Neil joined Waterman to spearhead the development of the company’s due diligence capabilities. Waterman quickly became recognised as a leading provider of due diligence services, and in 2007 was awarded Due Diligence Adviser of the Year both at the M&A awards and Unquote Awards. During this period Neil continued to oversee numerous areas of the business with specific responsibility for the Environmental Management, Due Diligence and Sustainability teams.

In 2009, Neil was appointed Managing Director of the Group’s environmental business and in 2013 was appointed Chief Operating Officer for Waterman Infrastructure & Environment Ltd, combining the Groups civil engineering, environmental and outsourcing businesses.

Neil is a Chartered Environmentalist and registered Principal Environmental Auditor with IEMA. Nick is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Graduate of INSEAD’s Advanced Management Programme. Nick was appointed Deputy Chairman of the ACE (Association for Consultancy and Engineering) and Chairman of its Property Group.On leaving Oxford University Nick Taylor joined Taylor Woodrow Construction Limited as a Site Engineer responsible for the control of a large section of the Heysham Nuclear Power Station project in Lancashire.

In 1982 Nick joined Waterman Partnership and following initial experience in the civils division, structurally designed numerous buildings from the commercial, residential, leisure and retail sectors. Nick became a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 1986 and a year later was appointed as an Associate Director of Waterman Partnership. In 1994 he went on to be appointed as Director of Waterman Partnership and in 2000 became Joint Managing Director. He joined the plc Board of Waterman Group in 2003 and became the Chairman of Waterman Structures two years later. Nick was appointed Chief Executive of Waterman Group in June 2007.
In January 2016, Nick was appointed Deputy Chairman of the ACE (Association for Consultancy and Engineering) and Chairman of its Property Group.

As with all of Waterman senior management Craig’s career began from a solid background in engineering and design. His ambition and enthusiasm for achieving the very best solutions to deliver clients’ aspirations…is now evident in his business leadership and approach at Waterman. As a main Board Director and Chief Operating Officer of Property, with a specialism in structural engineering, Craig has responsibility for the delivery of Waterman’s property related projects.

Alex Steele trained as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) and qualified in 1997. Alex was seconded to PWC in Sydney for three years, and returned as a senior manager to the London office specialising in the audits of mid tier Companies.

During her time at PWC she also advised on several buyside due diligences.

Alex joined Waterman in March 2008 as Group Divisional Director of Finance, where apart from a Group role she has been focusing on the international operations.

On 19th February 2010 Alex joined the board as Finance Director.

Andy Ferguson

Since joining in 2002, Andrew has been pivotal in the growth of Waterman’s regional offices and in 2009 he became a board director for the company’s infrastructure and environmental consulting business.

 

He has led major commercial, residential land, urban regeneration, and strategic infrastructure projects. During his career, he has delivered master planning advice, together with infrastructure and environmental engineering design, for both private and public sector clients in support of some the most significant developments across the UK. With over 25 years’ industry experience, Andrew is passionate about unlocking the potential of development sites, with a focus on creating places for the future that  provide neighbourhood communities which are connected, sustainable and offer a high quality of life. Andrew’s extensive portfolio includes The Trans Pennine Route Upgrade, Halsnead Garden Village, Barnsley Market Gate Bridge and Carrington’s Voltage Park.

Mark directs and controls the company’s operations and gives strategic guidance and leadership to the board and senior management team to ensure that the company achieves its mission and objectives.

Mark graduated from the University of Manchester in 1980 with a BSc in Civil Engineering. He commenced his career with West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council, transferring across to Kirklees Council upon the abolition of WYMCC in 1986. Mark has a background in Highway Engineering and Contracts, becoming Chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers in 1984. He completed an MSc in Construction Management in 1988.

Having been a Senior Project Engineer at Kirklees C Mark joined Aspen Associates in 1990, primarily undertaking secondment work to a range of Clients (Frank Graham Consulting Engs, York City C, Lincolnshire CC) in the formative years in addition to managing the growth of the Aspen secondment business across Northern England.

Mark became a Director of Waterman Aspen following the takeover of Aspen in 2001. In the years following Mark managed the expanded Waterman Aspen business across the North of the UK, including Scotland. Following a management restructure in 2012 Mark became responsible for the Operational part of the Waterman Aspen Specialist Staff Secondment business throughout the whole of the UK.

Mark became Managing Director in 2018.

A Chartered Building Services Engineer with over 30 years’ design experience across a wide variety of sectors, Jonathan is Managing Director responsible the North.

His extensive knowledge and experience allow him to simplify and streamline designs, avoiding overly complex strategies and ensuring deliverable solutions that bring best value. Jonathan is passionate about design and believes in developing strategies that holistically consider and adopt the principles of wellbeing and sustainability. His in – depth expertise in dynamic thermal and energy modelling have seen him deliver excellent solutions across multiple sectors of the built environment.

Jonathan has successfully managed the design of several prestigious new build and refurbishment schemes, including Liverpool’s award – winning Everyman Theatre which won the RIBA Stirling Prize and CIBSE Performance Champion Award.

He also designed Nottingham Trent University’s world – beating creative learning facility, the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies.

Philip has over 30 years’ mechanical engineering experience in Australia and internationally.

He has led the Waterman team on some of the most significant recent projects in the health, laboratory, and educational sectors.

Working closely with both government and commercial stakeholders, in addition to architectural and construction firms, he specialises in understanding and pre-empting Client needs – ensuring outcomes which meet the unique requirements of each project.

With professional Australian experience at Gutteridge Haskins & Davey, Bates Smart McCutcheon and Lincolne Scott, in addition to time spent working internationally in London with Building Design Partnership, Philip has been extensively involved across the entirety of building services design and contract administration engineering services.

Philips career history within multidisciplinary companies has extensively involved the design and contract administration for major institutional projects, in addition to working on some of Victoria’s largest healthcare projects over recent years. Across all sectors and projects, he prioritises the integration and co-ordination of engineering services.

Philip Joined AHW Consulting Engineers (Vic) Pty Ltd in 1995 and became a director in November 2000. He remained as Joint Managing Director in 2006 when the business was sold to Waterman AHW (Vic) Pty Ltd, and he continues to lead the team in this position.

Ruth is an experienced Senior Executive with excellent project management and commercial skills. She joined Waterman in 2016 as our Midlands Regional Director, and is also Chair of the ACE Midlands and joined the ACE National Board in 2018.

Her extensive project portfolio includes strategic land sites such as Graven Hill and Mindenhurst, as well as the delivery of the Jersey General Hospital Nightingale Wing. Ruth has also secured local framework opportunities with ESPO, Midlands Connect, Birmingham City Council, Nottingham City Council, EEM, and Oxford City Council. Ruth leads Waterman’s infrastructure and environment team in the Midlands and is a proven project and programme Director who successfully delivers against challenging and complex criteria and timescales. She is passionate about providing trusted, pragmatic, and flexible advice on development and infrastructure projects for a range of private and public sector clients.

Daryl’s career with Waterman spans over 11 years during which time he has led the transformational change of our infrastructure and environment business in Scotland which includes the opening of our Perth Office and the addition of the Glasgow Office in 2018.

A Fellow of the ICE specialising in geotechnics, Daryl has been pivotal in Waterman’s recent appointment to the Performance Audit Group Framework, extending our association with the Scottish National Trunk Road delivery vehicle for a further ten years and he is currently developing the UK’s first innovative smartphone AI road condition inspection tool.

With over 30 years’ experience as a Building Services Consultant, Steve’s expansive portfolio spans a broad range of sectors and project scales, including the £1.1bn Aspire Defence project

where he played a leading role. Steve heads – up strategic design for our Bristol and South – West projects and is responsible for our overall service delivery.

With a proven track record across all market sectors including commercial, residential and education, Steve also has specialist knowledge of the industrial and defence sectors, and he has established long term relationships with key clients such as MTC.

Prioritising the development of client relationships and taking a hands – on approach to his work, Steve’s expertise in the construction industry, combined with his track record in project delivery, means that he adds significant value to the projects he leads.

Throughout his career, Steve has played a pivotal role in delivering schemes for end users, developers and contactors. He integrates fully with client and contractor teams and promotes excellent communication in support of successful project delivery.

He has played a leading role in major multidisciplinary projects across the North, championing the delivery of BIM – based design solutions which facilitate modern methods of construction.

Steven has cross – sector experience spanning retail, leisure, commercial and residential through to educational, industrial and energy to waste sectors. Employing his strong leader ship skills, Steven is pivotal in delivering our major projects and he provides an in depth understanding of project needs to guarantee successful outcomes.

Passionate about embedding climate resilience in the built environment, Steven is at the forefront of integrating BIM MEP design with embodied carbon tracking tools in collaboration with our Net Zero sustainability services team.

John Hughes

John joined Waterman in 2000 and became a Regional Director in 2011. Throughout his career with Waterman, he has been instrumental in the diversification and growth of the infrastructure and environment business in the North of England.

A specialist in land conditions, John also leads our key frameworks with Merseytravel and West Yorkshire Combined Authority. His project highlights include the Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal, the Isle of Man Ferry Terminal, Manchester’s Voltage Logistics Park, and Merseyside’s Green Bus Routes. John’s strategic thinking, collaborative approach and stakeholder engagement skills facilitate the unlocking of development sites that would normally be prohibitive due to site constraints or abnormal costs.

With a passion for engineering, he actively engages with our clients to fully understand their requirements and aspirations, employing his knowledge and enthusiasm to drive practical engineering outcomes that deliver against the project brief.

Peter takes the lead on strategy, delivery and risk management for our projects. He champions collaboration and teamwork, forging strong relationships within the Client and design teams to determine optimum value design solutions.

His in – depth understanding and experience of delivering design solutions which respond to the climate emergency enable him to significantly cut whole – life carbon resulting in lower energy costs, improved energy security and enhanced user health and wellbeing.

With over 30 years’ experience in Building Services, Simon has worked on major and small – scale projects both as a consultant and for Tier 1 contractors across a wide range of sectors including,

commercial offices, mixed use, aviation, sports stadia and healthcare projects.

He has led consultancy frameworks with major clients including Grosvenor Estates, Barclays PLC and RBS, and has delivered major projects including Heathrow’s Terminal 5B and the fit – out of Goldman Sachs’ new headquarters building in London.

With a passion for the development of net zero carbon buildings, he focuses on driving efficiency and quality throughout building services installations, which often sees him utilise prefabrication and off – site delivery techniques. This gives him a deep insight into the opportunities offered by modern methods of construction, and the benefits of embedding these principles from an early design stage. Simon harnesses his extensive experience to contribute to Waterman’s research on reducing carbon through off – site manufacture as part of our Net Zero advisory service.

He has been pivotal in increasing our infrastructure and environment team’s profile in the Central South region, and he is a committee member of both the Bournemouth & Southampton Property Associations. His current projects include Meridian Water and Purfleet Centre Regeneration.

Tim plays an active role in the project design process and has led a number of prestigious sustainability – focused projects, both new build and refurbishments, including the National Cycling Centre.

With 30 years’ experience, Tim has supported schemes across a wide range of sectors including education, healthcare, residential, commercial, retail, hotel and sports venues.

A Chartered Engineer and a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, Tim has also previously participated in the preparation and publication of CIBSE Guides.

Gordon graduated from Strathclyde University with a degree in Civil Engineering and has since acquired a broad range of experience in the transportation planning, highways, civil engineering and development industries.

His broad portfolio spans project management for the development of major road and related structures, to providing expert witness services at Public Local Inquiries for major developments. Prior to joining Waterman, Gordon spent 10 years with Boreham Consulting Engineers, a specialist transport planning and highway engineering company. Gordon has a detailed understanding and knowledge of the transportation planning and related development markets.

Joe joined Waterman in London in 1986 where he spent eight years before returning to Ireland in 1994 to join Waterman Moylan. A Chartered Civil Engineer with over 30 years’ experience,

Joe’s extensive expertise includes project management, and he has played a leading role in civil and structural engineering and traffic teams on a wide range of projects throughout Ireland. This includes traffic and transportation, roads, access, and parking design, drainage design, SUDs and infrastructure works.

Joe is highly regarded by the clients he has worked with because of the clarity of advice and quality of service that he delivers.

He currently manages the Civil Engineering division of Waterman Moylan where he provides invaluable input at planning and pre-planning stage of projects. Joe has also been instrumental in successfully achieving planning permission for a vast variety of building projects across Ireland.

Richard spent five years with the Group in the UK before transferring to the Dublin office where he was appointed to Waterman Moylan’s board in 2011. A Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland and an ACEI fellow professional consulting Engineer, Richard has extensive experience in all sectors of the property market. Throughout his career he has played a central role as a designer and an engineering team leader for major schemes across Ireland, spanning the office, residential, retail, education, healthcare, hotel and leisure, industrial and government sectors.

Richard is valued by our clients for his vision and creativity, which sees him rapidly identify and outline the most efficient and relevant structural solution for projects of all types.

Niall graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1999 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has worked in Building Services consultancy for over 15 years.
A Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland, Niall previously worked as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and Sustainable Design specialist for a large Dublin-based consultancy firm.

Here he was involved in the design and project management of mechanical services installations for a wide variety of projects across various sectors, including offices, healthcare, schools and residential. He also managed the company’s sustainability division, which specialised in operational energy audits, renewable energy feasibility studies and BREEAM consultancy services.

Niall joined Waterman Moylan in 2014, and his current role involves managing our Dublin-based Building Services team where he oversees the work of the dedicated team. He remains closely involved in multiple projects and has extensive experience in developing energy efficient strategies and Part L Compliance approaches for housing and apartment developments.

Alan graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street, in 2012 with an honours degree in Building Services Engineering. A Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland, Alan began his career in 2002 when he completed a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering at Tallaght Institute of Technology.

He then completed an apprenticeship in plumbing with a leading mechanical and building services contractor and subsequently was responsible for installation and maintenance of mechanical services for numerous hospital, education, retail and commercial building projects. This hands-on experience ensures Alan takes a very practical approach to his role as a lead building services designer, and his projects benefit from his detailed understanding of the importance of addressing buildability and ease of maintenance at the design stage.

Alan joined the Waterman Moylan team in 2015 as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and was promoted to Associate in 2019. His design expertise encompasses residential development, education, commercial, health sector and public building works, and he has contributed to a wide range of new build, fit-out and refurbishment schemes throughout Ireland. He is an SEAI registered domestic BER assessor.

Alan’s contracting experience has given him a strong interest in advancing safety on construction sites which has seen him qualify to act as a Project Supervisor – Design Process and he regularly advises clients on health and safety matters relating to building development and operation.

Anthony graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2004 with a Degree in Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering and he has worked in Structural Engineering in Canada, the UK and Ireland. A Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland, Anthony’s international experience includes

lead structural design roles and project delivery for a diverse range of projects, including stadia and aquatic centres, city centre residential, retail and office developments and the restoration of historic buildings. One of his more prestigious roles was as lead designer for the award-winning Cheltenham Racecourse Grandstand, completed in 2015.

Anthony joined Waterman Moylan in 2015, where he is responsible for successfully leading one of our structural design teams, and he was promoted to Associate in 2019. His portfolio since joining Waterman Moylan includes Grade A city centre offices, retail and mixed-use city centre developments, hotels and high-density residential projects. Highly skilled in developing structural designs using all major materials and systems, Anthony is a strong proponent of the use of BIM on all new development projects.

Michael Conneally Waterman Dublin

Michael graduated from University College, Dublin, in 2002 and has since worked in Structural Engineering in Dublin, New Zealand and California. Having spent several years designing in the seismically active New Zealand, he progressed to leading his own project teams and completed projects in

high-rise residential and commercial developments, high-end retail and medical facilities.

A Chartered Engineer with both the Institute of Professional Engineers of New Zealand and Engineers Ireland, Michael is also an ACEI Registered Professional Consulting Engineer. His extensive experience spans all aspects of the construction industry from the design of high-performance medical buildings with critical post disaster functions in areas of high seismic activity, to the preservation and restoration of protected buildings. As a result of his time overseas, Michael is comfortable working with various international structural engineering design codes.

In 2011, Michael returned to Ireland and joined Waterman Moylan. He was promoted to Associate in 2015 and runs one of the company’s Structural Engineering teams. In recent years, his team has completed many prestigious developments throughout the country including significant renovation projects involving the repurposing of existing buildings and structures.

 

Margaret Dolan Waterman Dublin

Margaret completed an Electrical Engineering Technicians course at Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) in 1985, before graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Electrical Services and Energy Management. A Chartered Engineer with over 30 years’ experience,

Margaret has a wealth of expertise in building services design engineering and project management. Throughout her career, she has delivered both large- and small-scale projects in the industrial, commercial, institutional, healthcare and cultural sectors. Margaret joined Waterman Moylan in 2014 and is an Associate in our Dublin Building Services team.

In 2007, Margaret was elected to Chair the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Republic of Ireland. She has been an active committee member for the past 16 years and served as Honorary Secretary for eight years. For several years, Margaret acted as an industry representative on the interview committee for lecturers at the Dublin Institute of Technology, and she was also the CIBSE representative on a BRAB working group on the elaboration of 2010 Part L Building Regulations ‘Targets for buildings other than Dwellings’.

Margaret’s extensive portfolio includes the recently completed Grand Canal Square Theatre, now known as the Board Gais Theatre. The new 2,100 seat performing arts theatre and adjoining 40,000 sqm office complex was designed by Studio Daniel Libeskind of New York. This outstanding project received the ACEI (Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland) ‘Design Excellence’ award in March 2011 for its exemplary mechanical and electrical services design.

Mark graduated from Trinity College Dublin 2004 with a B.A. and B.A.I. honours degree in Civil, Structural, Transportation and Environmental Engineering. A Chartered Professional Engineer with over 12 years’ experience,

Mark’s expertise spans civil engineering and waste-water management design, SuDs design, road and infrastructure design. Between 2007 and 2008, Mark travelled overseas, where he worked as a Site Engineer and Design Civil Engineer for Demlakian and Finbar International Ltd in Australia.

In 2011, Mark was appointed as a Senior Engineer at Waterman Moylan and was promoted to Associate in 2016. Throughout his career with Waterman Moylan, he has been responsible for managing and leading multidisciplinary design teams on a variety of civil engineering projects from feasibility stage through to planning, tender, construction and on to final sign-off.

Mark’s extensive portfolio spans a wide variety of large residential and mixed-use developments, with key highlights including the Clongriffin and Oldtown/Mooretown developments in North Dublin.

Damien Kelly Waterman Dublin

Damien graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) in 2011 with a master’s degree in Structural Engineering with Architecture. He joined Waterman Moylan in the same year, having previously completed an industry placement with us as part of his degree studies at UCD.

Damien is a Chartered Engineer with experience in a variety of sectors across Ireland and the UK, including residential, retail, commercial, hotel and mixed-use developments. With expertise in the application of finite element analysis and design software, combined with harnessing Revit 3-D modelling systems to analyse and design complex structures, Damien is fully at ease working to various collaborative BIM standards. He was responsible for the modelling and design of key concrete elements for one of the tallest precast concrete buildings in Europe, the Two Fifty-One residential tower in London.

Damien leads one of our Structural Engineering teams and has been responsible for delivering a number of prestigious developments throughout Ireland, including a number of technology and office buildings, hotels and apartment developments.

Damien is passionate about the training and development of student and graduate engineers to maximise their potential as engineers for the future. He utilises his own student placement experience with Waterman Moylan and combines this with his professional expertise to guide the training needs of the next generation of engineers.

Kevin graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) with a Diploma in Building Services Engineering in 1998 and obtained a master’s degree in engineering from the Open University in 2006 with over 25 years experience

Kevin joined Waterman Moylan in 2015 and is an Associate with our Building Services team in Dublin. With over 25 years’ experience as a building services design engineer and project manager, he is also a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland.

Kevin has developed his electrical engineering skills across a diverse range of projects in residential, retail, commercial, office development, educational, healthcare and mixed-use developments, and he has a strong track record for the delivery of high-quality electrical designs. His experience encompasses electrical design, value engineering, project management, sustainable design, and commissioning management.

Whilst most of his career has been based in Ireland, Kevin has also spent time in the Middle East working for an international design and project management company, where he was Lead Electrical Engineer for a new 18,000 student university campus in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

Eoghan graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 1996 with a Diploma in Structural Engineering and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science. A chartered member of both Engineers Ireland and the Institution of Civil Engineers since 2003,

Eoghan has worked on projects throughout Ireland and the UK, whilst also contributing to schemes in Europe and the Middle East. Eoghan joined Waterman Moylan in 2005 where he has worked across many different sectors on a wide range of projects spanning everything from one-off houses to Ireland’s tallest building. In 2010, he became an Associate.

Passionate about engineering, Eoghan is keenly focused on project deliverables and standards, a strength which is recognised by the loyal clients he has worked with over the years.

A deep interest in Dublin’s history and heritage buildings led Eoghan to attend the University of Dublin in 2011 to complete a postgraduate Diploma in Building Conservation and Restoration with Distinction.

Ian Worrell Waterman Dublin

Ian graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology in 1996 with a BSc in Engineering. In 2004, he gained a post Graduate Diploma in Physical Planning from Trinity College Dublin. A Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland,

Ian has extensive expertise in the assessment of existing and planned drainage networks, flood studies and environmental management of surface water (SuDS) as well as traffic engineering, transport assessments, junction design and mobility management.

His experience spans the delivery of civil engineering services across a wide range of developments, including private residential, industrial, commercial, hotels and sporting facilities throughout Ireland, UK and the Middle East.

Ian joined Waterman Moylan in 1996 and became a Civil Engineering Associate in 2005. He leads our multidisciplinary team in the provision of social housing units for Dublin City Council, Kildare County Council, Wicklow County Council and South Dublin County Council. He also leads the Education team which is heavily involved with providing vital schools through the Department of Education Framework, which has seen the delivery of over 40 school projects to date.

Brian McCann Waterman Dublin

Brian graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in Civil Engineering and went on to gain a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Imperial College, London. A Fellow of Engineers Ireland and a member of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland, Brian is also a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers.

Prior to joining Waterman Moylan, Brian was head of engineering at URS Ireland. During a twenty-year period, he directed several significant development projects and became highly experienced in delivering structural engineering and temporary structure designs for events and transportation.

In 2005, he joined Waterman Moylan as an Associate Director to manage the Transportation Division in Dublin. He is currently a consultant specialising in development engineering for housing, retail and industrial projects.

Kieran O'Neill Waterman Dublin

Kieran graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) in 1986 with a BSc (Eng) before going on to complete a Master’s in Engineering Design at University College Dublin (UCD) in 1994 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Health & Safety from Trinity College Dublin (TCD).

With 30 years’ experience in design and project management, Kieran is a Chartered Engineer and a member of IOSH. Prior to joining Waterman Moylan, Kieran was the Design Manager at Intel Ireland responsible for construction projects ranging from facilities upgrades, infrastructure works, datacentres, building services, offices and cafe refurbishments.

During major capital programmes, he managed the semiconductor equipment installation design team and Health & Safety coordination (PSDP). In the last major capital programme at Intel, the team completed 7.7 million man-hours for a US$5 billion refurbishment project. As a result, they received a NISO distinction award in recognition at national level for strong safety leadership and workplace health and safety, Kieran joined Waterman Moylan in 2016 as a Health and Safety Consultant, and is responsible for providing Project Supervisor (PSDP) services for commercial, residential, and institutional projects either as a stand-alone service or integrated within our engineering consultancy work in civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering design.

Brendan Gallagher

Brendan joined Waterman Moylan in 2014 having spent three years working for The Office of Public Works in Dublin. In this role, he gained valuable experience working Public Works contracts.

He graduated from Trinity College Dublin with B.A. and B.A.I. honours degree in Civil, Structural, Transportation and Environmental Engineering, and he has been a Chartered Engineer since 2017.

Brendan is highly experienced in Public Works contracts having worked on Schools Project Bundles for Department of Education whilst working in the Office of Public Works, and subsequently for Waterman Moylan. In addition, he has a wealth of experience in the delivery of Social Housing Schemes for various Local Authorities.

Brendan is highly proficient in all stages of Civil Engineering projects from inception and preliminary design through to construction and sign-off of civil engineering works for residential, office, retail, education and mixed-use projects throughout Ireland.

He has extensive experience in road, traffic and drainage design in compliance with local and national design standards.

Richard Nelson Waterman Dublin

Richard graduated from University College Dublin in 2009 with a master’s degree in Structural Engineering with Architecture. Since graduating, he has worked for Waterman Group in Ireland and London,

collaborating with leading international architects on schemes ranging from one-off private developments to large regeneration masterplans with complex site constraints. Richard is a Chartered Engineer with both Engineers Ireland and the Institute of Structural Engineers.

His international experience includes lead structural design roles specialising in financial and commercial developments, refurbishment and retained facades, as well as high-rise residential developments with mixed-use schemes. Richard became an Associate in 2017 while working in Waterman’s London office.

Richard has a keen interest in sustainability and innovation in structural design and the built environment. He is highly conversant in detailed engineering discussions and aims to deliver value engineering by minimising the quantum of materials used in construction through utilising advanced approaches to structural engineering and design.
Richard leads one of our Structural Engineering teams who are adept in the use of BIM on all project types. He is a keen proponent of using hand sketches to articulate structural schemes that then evolve into detailed 3D computer models.

Emma Caulwell

Emma joined Waterman Moylan in 2019 having spent eight years at Price & Myers in their London office, where she was a Civil Engineering Associate working on various development projects in the City of London. A Chartered Engineer,

Emma graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology with a BSc in Engineering in 2008, before going on to achieve an MSc in Energy Management in 2011.

Emma has developed expertise in the design of civil engineering works for residential, office, retail and mixed-use projects. Many of these schemes were completed on constrained sites and required detailed liaison with third parties, such as London Underground, Thames Water, Transport for London etc and more recently, Irish Water, TII and all the Dublin Local Authorities. She is a highly proficient drainage and SuDS designer, and has expertise in flood risk assessment, water supply design, utilities coordination and all aspects of civil engineering for development works.

Her recent track record includes the successful delivery of major office, residential and mixed-use development in Dublin city centre as well as greenfield development in the city suburbs and surrounding counties.
